When a friend came to Rochester for an exam last week, I didnāt hesitate to take him back to this not-yet-widely-known gem, reconfirming its excellence. It blends the innovative spirit of āNew Americanā cuisine with the robust flavors of āMediterraneanā dishes, offering a refreshing experience. ⨠š½ļø Appetizer Highlight: The Irresistible Lamb Lollipop Speaking of starters, full marks must be given to the Lamb Lollipop šÆ! Itās completely different from versions Iāve had at places like Tapas 177, showcasing deliciousness in another dimension. The lamb chops were cooked with precise timingāa tempting crust on the outside, a beautiful pink inside, the meat incredibly tender and juicy with no gaminess. The seasoning leaned more towards Mediterranean style, likely using herbs like rosemary and garlic, creating a complex and elegant aroma. One bite, and the richness of the fat and the fragrance of the spices burst in the mouth. We unanimously gave it the highest praise: āAbsolutely loved it!ā š š„ Carb Joy: The Satisfying Flatbread Another starter, the Flatbread, also performed well. The base was baked thin and crispy with a wheaty aroma, topped with fresh ingredients and rich cheese. As an appetizer, it perfectly awakened the palate without being too filling, the ideal choice to share while chatting. š š¦ Main Course Impression: The Excellent Duck & Potato Combo We also tried a duck-based dish (canāt recall the exact name, but it left an impression). The accompanying roasted potatoes soaked up all the duckās (essence), (crispy) on the outside and (soft) inside. The combination overall was āvery fragrant,ā a satisfying main course. š„ A Minor Letdown: The Skippable Salad Of course, not every dish was perfect. The salad we ordered was somewhat (unremarkable)āordinary dressing, uninspired ingredient combination, falling into the ājust so-soā category. If you donāt desperately need veggie balance, you can safely skip this and save precious stomach space for the other stellar dishes. š Overall Feel & Positioning Chortkeās ambiance is modern and comfortable, with attentive service. It successfully merges the passionate boldness of Mediterranean cuisine with the refined creativity of New American (cooking), carving out a unique path in Rochesterās dining scene. The per-person cost is mid-to-high range, but considering ingredient quality and unique taste, it offers good value.
