Rochester Food | The Best Tartare of My Life at a Steakhouse! 🥩

I recently visited a beautiful downtown restaurant with a chic and cozy atmosphere – the interior and lighting are perfectly designed (no harsh overhead lights here 💡😍), giving off a vibe similar to Next Door by Wegmans but with its own unique charm. The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the King Salmon Tartare (a special that evening – their regular menu offers beef and tuna options). This dish completely blew my mind 🫢💥: made with fatty salmon belly, which would usually feel too rich after a few bites if eaten as sashimi, but here it was perfectly balanced with finely diced crispy onions and a tangy, savory dressing. I officially declare this the BEST tartare I’ve ever had! 🏆 A close second favorite was the Garden of Eden mocktail 🍐🍹 – so good I ordered two! It had a delicate pear juice base topped with silky protein foam – light, refreshing, and beautifully crafted. Other dishes were decent but not as memorable: The steak was good quality (as expected in a steakhouse), and the roasted mushrooms were flavorful, though I was too full to fully enjoy them by that point. The crab cake was just okay – real crab meat, but not as impressive as the one at Tournedos. We tried the escargot and bone marrow, but both were under-seasoned and underwhelming. We ended up sending them back. ❌ For dessert, we had the Red Velvet Cake 🍰❤️ – it had an ice-cream-like texture and was served with a scoop of actual ice cream. The cake itself was pleasantly sweet, but the coconut cream filling was extremely sugary – a bit too much even for someone with a sweet tooth!
