🦀 Rochester Road Trip Day 3

🦀 Rochester Road Trip Day 3|A Cozy Journey of Thai Food, Jellycat & Farm Ice Cream 🚗 By 1 PM, we had finished exploring the second floor of the Strong Museum of Play and headed straight to Seasoning Thai Bistro (the Elmwood location), guided by online recommendations. As a serious crab lover, I was completely drawn in by that crab fried rice! 🍛 Thai Food Experience: Crab Fried Rice Steals the Show We ordered cheesy crab puffs, red curry, green curry, a Pad Thai set, and the long-awaited crab fried rice. The set came with a side of either dumplings or tom yum soup. Crab Fried Rice 🦀: It did not disappoint! The rice was fluffy and well-separated, packed with sweet, generous crab meat—full of wok hei and deeply satisfying with every bite. 😋 The other dishes were tasty too, though overall the seasoning leaned heavy and sweet, becoming cloying after a few bites. Quietly saying… some Thai spots in Toronto (like Pai, Issan Der, and the former Khao San Road) suit my personal taste better. Dear chefs, please add crab fried rice to your menus—I’d gladly line up for it! 🛍️ A Happy Find: A Cozy Hidden Shop After lunch, we visited Breath at Home, famously stocked with Jellycat. Street parking is available outside (sign posted above ⬆️) with 2 free hours—more than enough. My partner teased, “Can’t you get these in Toronto? Why come all this way and pay in USD?” Me: “We’re already here, gotta bring back a souvenir!” (Just like how I insisted on paying $5 each for the butterfly garden at Strong Museum—though it’s only 1/5 the size of Niagara’s—and got teased again 😂). The store is small but packed with treasures! Beyond walls of Jellycat, there were colorful candles, candle holders, pillows, home decor… We left with a schnauzer, a hot chocolate plush, a chihuahua, and a badminton birdie for our eldest. 💸 Over a hundred USD flew away happily~ 🍦 Final Stop: Visiting the Famous Farm Ice Cream Last destination was Pittsford Farm Dairy. We tried Cookie & Scream, Blu Moo, raspberry sorbet, coconut, and more. Not sure if it was just us, but the ice cream had a slightly grainy texture and wasn’t as creamy as expected. Personally, I still prefer Ontario’s local Kawartha ice cream. 📝 Travel Reflection “We’re already here” might be the ultimate travel spending philosophy 😂. Whether it’s crossing town for a bowl of crab fried rice, paying USD for a Jellycat, or buying tickets to a mini butterfly garden, these little “irrational” moments often become the most vivid memories. Wandering, eating, and exploring with kids—our three-day Rochester road trip came to a sweet end just before the ice cream cone melted! #jellycat#LifeInNorthAmerica#NorthAmericaRoadTrip#TravelTheWorld#TravelWithKids#Play#FoodieLife#Rocheste#SeasoningThaiBistro#BreathAtHome#PittsfordFarmDairy
