🍙✨ Sado Is Truly Unrivaled Japanese Cuisine in St. Louis 🇯🇵

I’m declaring Sado the top-tier Japanese restaurant in our little STL “village” 🍵✨! What I love most is their plating—every dish feels like a pleasant surprise, a total feast for both the taste buds and the eyes. Let me share a few of my favorites~ 🦪 Uni Nigiri $24 each, and it has to be my first recommendation! I hesitated a little when ordering (since it’s pricey), but once I took a bite? It melts in your mouth instantly—before I knew it, it was already sliding down my throat 😂.Its texture is as smooth and creamy as butter, and every bite bursts with rich, sweet umami. It’s like being transported to the seaside in a single mouthful 🌊. 🔥 Smoked Masu Nigiri 🐟🍃 This was the best nigiri of the night! The trout is lightly smoked, with an attractive caramel hue on the surface. The fish itself is tender and bouncy—first, you taste a faint smoky flavor, then the fish’s fat melts gently on your tongue. Compared to regular sashimi nigiri, this smoked version is way more memorable. 🥩 Wagyu Tartare 🌿🍋 The most surprising and my absolute favorite! As someone who’s obsessed with beef tartare, I’m officially hooked on Sado’s version 🔒. It preserves the beef’s original flavor, while the house-made seasoning adds a fresh, sweet kick that cuts through richness. Paired with the crispy nori base—who came up with this genius combo?! 🥚 Chawanmushi (Japanese Steamed Egg Custard) 🍵 St. Louis has been unusually freezing this year, and as someone from southern China, I was shivering—so ordering this seafood chawanmushi felt perfect. Its texture was just as silky and smooth as I imagined. As soon as it was served, I could smell the warm dashi aroma—I almost didn’t want to scoop it with a spoon! Every bite is packed with the rich umami of kombu dashi. A bowl like this on a cold day is so comforting 💛✨. 🍨 Neri Goma Semifreddo 🌰🍦 This dessert gave the meal a perfect ending! I’m in love with semifreddo now—this blend of Italian semi-frozen ice cream and rich black sesame is pure magic ✨. The texture is somewhere between ice cream and mousse, and the sweetness is just right. It was the ideal way to finish the meal 😋. 🍣 Nigiri & Sashimi I ordered a variety based on personal taste, so I won’t go through each one—just pick whatever you’re in the mood for! 🎎 Sado📍 5201 Shaw Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110✨💕 If you love Japanese food, you have to give this spot a try!
