San Francisco | Mister Jiu's
This summer, I tried the much-hyped Peking Duck menu at Mister Jiu's — and it was… an interesting experience. The menu and drink list are creative and thoughtfully designed — the wine pairings, in particular, carried lovely symbolic meanings 🍷📜. Definitely worth ordering! We enjoyed the cheong fun (rice rolls) and the numbingly spicy tomato cold skin noodles 🍅🌶️ — both flavorful and original. I’ve also heard great things about their fried rice, though we didn’t try it. But let’s talk about the duck. 🦆 The Peking Duck… was NOT Peking duck! 😤 It tasted more like a hybrid of Beijing roast duck and Cantonese roast duck — but without the deep, aromatic crispness of either. The flavor was mild, the skin less crackly, and the overall experience… confusing. That said, if you come for the regular à la carte menu and skip the duck feast, Mister Jiu’s still offers a beautiful setting, creative Chinese-inspired dishes, and a vibe that’s perfect for a stylish night out. 📍 Mister Jiu's | Chinatown, SF 💡 Go for: The ambiance, creative cocktails, and non-duck dishes 🎋 Vibe: Elevated, modern, full of story #MisterJius #PekingDuck #SFChineseFood #ChinatownEats #ModernChinese #DuckNotDuck #FoodReview #EatPretty #SFDining
