San Francisco-Area Sushi That Punches WAY Above Its Price!
Okay okay, title a little clickbaity, my bad fam ๐ง๐ง It's actually in Oakland, but just a 20-minute ๐ drive from SF! This place feels like a hidden gem for affordable omakase-style sushi. In terms of skill, flavor, and freshness, it honestly beats many $100+ spots. Must-Order (No-Brainer Edition): My go-to order every time is the ๐ฃ Sushi Combo and the ๐ Sashimi Combo, plus a couple of small dishes on the side. Perfect for one person! ๐ฃ Sushi Combo ๐๐๐๐๐ ($25 ๐ช โ feels like charity at this price!) On the menu as Nigiri Combo โ includes 7 pieces of nigiri + 1 small hand roll. You get to pick all 7! Includes my fave Kanpachi โ so flavorful. The best part? They're already seasoned like in an omakase โ no extra soy sauce or wasabi needed!! Unreal value. โ Must-pick fish: Kanpachi (Amberjack) & Kurodai (Black Snapper) โ so good! โ Skip: Hamachi (Yellowtail) and Inari (Tofu Pouch) โ basic filler. ๐ก The 5 premium add-ons are worth it too! Hotate (Hokkaido Scallop) is super fresh โ great if you're into that (I'm neutral). ๐ Sashimi Combo ๐๐๐๐๐ ($35 ๐ช) Menu: Sashimi Combo โ 16 pieces total (8 types of fish, 2 slices each). Insane value! You canโt choose the fish (sad), but almost all are delicious and โ most importantly โ SUPER fresh!! If you're not a huge sashimi person, share one combo between two to try, then order more of what you like. Seriously, 7 pieces of quality nigiri for $25?! I suspect sorcery ๐งโโ๏ธ. Even online reviews say local office workers get this 3-4 times a week for lunch. Probably runs on volume! ๐ The place is small but popular. If I arrive around 5-5:30 PM, there's usually only one table left. There's also a long bar.
