San Francisco Food Diary | 🇺🇸🥩 House of Prime Rib
At first, I didn’t understand why this steakhouse was so popular—completely booked, with a long line still outside at 8 PM, and the place packed to the brim. 🏃♂️💨 But after trying it once, I totally got the hype. Huge portions, great value, and their famous 21-day-aged prime rib is absolutely delicious. Plus, the sides are so plentiful you’ll leave stuffed! 🎉 ➡️ We ordered two cuts of steak: the English cut and the traditional prime rib cut. The meat is the same, and so is the price, but the English cut is sliced thinner, making it more tender and able to soak up more of the delicious juices. 🥩🔥 Their steaks are dry-aged, so medium rare is technically the best for maximum tenderness without being too bloody. But since medium rare looked a bit too red for me, I went with medium, which was perfect. ✨ Every order comes with a free second cut, but we were so full we didn’t even need it! ➡️ The signature spinning salad is AMAZING! 🥗💫 The server prepares it right at your table. The dressing is unique—made with apple cider vinegar, apple sauce, and wine, giving it a sweet yet refreshing taste. Loved it so much I even researched the sauce recipe—stay tuned for a future post on that! 📝 ➡️ For sides, you can choose between creamed corn or creamed spinach, Yorkshire pudding, and roasted potatoes or mashed potatoes. The creamed spinach was my favorite—loaded with finely chopped bacon, rich and savory with a strong creamy flavor. 🍴🧀 It paired perfectly with the steak, and I loved it so much I asked for an extra serving! The creamed corn was sweet and delicious too. Between the roasted and mashed potatoes, the roasted potatoes won—loaded with butter, cream, bacon bits, sour cream, and chives. (We had to take leftovers home because we were too full!) 🥔📦 ➡️ The sourdough bread was also excellent—authentically tangy and served warm. 🍞🔥 Spread some butter on it, and it’s heavenly. But just have a small piece, or you’ll be too full for the steak! The service was top-notch—different staff handled the salad, sides, steak, and even packing leftovers. 💁♂️✨ Total for two (before tip) was around $135. (Pro tip: They don’t charge a reservation fee, so keep refreshing the booking page—slots open up frequently!) 🎯📅 #SanFranciscoEats #SFFoodie #Steak #SFSteak
