San Francisco Italian Bites: Sorella / Penny Roma / Cotogna πβ¨
Craving pasta, I stumbled upon a recommendation from food influencer Tony β who praised Sorella as a standout among SFβs pasta spots β so I brought friends to check it out. Coincidentally, Tony happened to be dining there that night too! We took his suggestions and added a few menu highlights: Focaccia: Decent, nothing special π Chicory Salad: Refreshing! Bitter greens balanced with nuts and Fog Cheese β liked it. Lobster Lasagna (Tonyβs pick!): Rich, flavorful lobster sauce, more substantial than regular lasagna. Pumpkin Caramelle: Surprise favorite! Deep pumpkin flavor, brown butter aroma, balanced with a touch of vinegar. Short Rib Cappellacci: Tasty mushroom dumplings with tender short rib, though outshone by the pumpkin dish. Beef Ragu Pasta: Classic and satisfying, just a bit salty for my taste.π Lamb Tartare: Delicious β aromatic, not gamey, with pine nuts adding nice texture. Potato Gnocchi: Light, pillowy β well-executed.π Overall, a great meal! And surprisingly affordable β just over $200 for four. ποΈ Quick notes on two other popular SF pasta spots: Penny Roma (March 2024) Starters okay, one pasta good / one bad, mains mediocre, tiramisu was a letdown. Cotogna (April 2024 β lunch) Solid but not memorable. Maybe dinner would impress more? Verdict: Will return to Sorella when they roll out new pastas.βΊοΈ Would try Cotogna for dinner. Penny Roma β only if Iβm in the area. #SorellaSF #ItalianPasta #SanFranciscoEats #PastaLovers #FoodReview #BayAreaFoodie #Cotogna #PennyRoma #EatLikeALocal #SFFoodDiary π·π§
