San Francisco Transportation + Attractions Guide (With Route Map) 🗺️
If you're only exploring within the city, renting a car isn’t really necessary — most attractions are pretty close together! 🏨 Accommodation It’s convenient to stay near Union Square. Options like Marriott, Hyatt, and Westin are available at around ¥1500 per night. 🚎 Transportation Use Muni to get around — you can buy a day pass for $15 that includes cable cars and metro rides. For ride-sharing: Uber or Waymo (self-driving cars!). 📲 Note: To download the Waymo app on an iPhone, you’ll need to switch your Apple ID region to the U.S. 🏞️ Attractions Golden Gate Bridge 🌉 Check online for the best photo spots! It’s often foggy in the morning, so try visiting after 2 PM for clearer views. Alcatraz Island A former prison — worth a full day if you have time, though it’s not a must-see. 📍 Recommended Route 1️⃣ Pier 39 Home to lots of sea lions 🦭! You can walk around in about 30 minutes. There’s also an aquarium — visit if you have time. 2️⃣ Lombard Street A 10-minute walk from Pier 39. The street itself is short (under 1 km), but when I visited, there were no flowers — a bit plain. 3️⃣ Washington Square About 10 minutes from Lombard Street. Not really recommended — it’s just a small green space with a church nearby. 4️⃣ Inception Filming Location 📍 California St & Powell St Viewpoint A 15-minute walk from Washington Square. Great for photos — you can even stand in the middle of the cable car tracks (safely!). From here, you can hop on a cable car. 5️⃣ Chinatown Just two cable car stops away (or a 10-minute walk). The hilly streets make the cable car ride especially fun! 6️⃣ Union Square On the cable car route or within walking distance. Great for shopping 🛍️! #SanFrancisco #USTravel #GoldenGateBridge #TravelGuide #SFTips #CableCar #BayAreaVibes
