San Jose Day Trip: A Leisurely Stroll Through the City
🌇✨ #RomanticLifeRecorder #InspirationFromNotes Caught the tail end of July for a spontaneous getaway! Despite the summer heat, it was the perfect time to unwind and explore San Jose on foot. 🏛️ Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph, located in San Jose, California, is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and the seat of the Diocese of San Jose. Dedicated to Saint Joseph, it was first established in 1803. The church was destroyed by earthquakes in 1818 and 1868, and the third structure was lost to fire in 1875. The current building, constructed between 1875 and 1885, features a magnificent dome and European-inspired architecture. It is the second-largest cathedral in California! 🎨 San Jose Museum of Art This contemporary and modern art museum in downtown San Jose was founded in 1969. It boasts an impressive permanent collection focused on works by 20th and 21th-century West Coast artists. 🏦 Bank of Italy Building A 14-story Renaissance Revival skyscraper standing at 77.72 meters, this historic building was completed in 1925. It housed the second branch of the Bank of Italy (founded in San Francisco in 1904), which later became Bank of America. ⛪ Two Distinct Churches Within walking distance from the main streets, you’ll find two charming churches—one with Gothic-style spires and the other with arched doorways. Each has its own unique character! 🎓 San Jose State University Whenever I visit a new city, I love exploring local universities. Founded in 1857, SJSU is the oldest public higher education institution on the West Coast and the founding campus of the California State University system. Located in downtown San Jose, its main campus spans 154 acres. SJSU offers 145 bachelor’s and master’s degrees and 5 certificate programs. Often dubbed a “hidden gem” due to its Silicon Valley location, it’s known for strong academic and innovation programs! #CityStroll #HolidayCitywalk #MyCityDiary #VisitSanJose #SanJoseDayTrip #TravelGuide #BayAreaAdventures #MemoryMaking #LifeLog #LifeSnippets #DailyJournal #Citywalk #WeekendGetaway #WeekendFunWithKids
