San Mateo Japanese Spot

✨My friends and I visited a Japanese restaurant near the city center of San Mateo. It even has a tatami room, which offers pretty good privacy. ✨Their menu is super extensive, featuring all kinds of rolls, nigiri, sushi, as well as tempura, noodles, and sukiyaki. There's also a small blackboard with the "Daily Special." We ordered the sea urchin nigiri from the Daily Special, and it was truly amazing! The sweet aroma of the sea urchin, combined with the fatty tuna and the vinegared rice, transported us to Japan in an instant. ✨The Sunrise Roll is a salmon roll with quail egg yolk and fish roe. It's a must-try for salmon lovers! ✨The sashimi platter was pretty solid, with high-quality seafood. The scallop was especially memorable, being very fresh and sweet. When the beef sukiyaki arrived, we were initially a bit underwhelmed by its home-cooked presentation, almost like a big bowl of stew. But once we tasted it, it was actually really good! There were lots of ingredients, and the flavors were relatively light. We even finished all the broth. ✨The Tiger Roll was a bit more on the American side, with a very strong cream cheese flavor, paired with avocado and eel. The taste was actually quite nice. Overall, this place is pretty affordable and has its own unique charm. It's definitely worth a visit! 📍Fuji Sukiyaki #SanFrancisco #BayArea #BayAreaFood #BayAreaLife #SanFranciscoEats
