Saskatoon Farm Picking & Giant Boulders & Black Diamond Ice Cream
Who truly loves Saskatoon Farm? π»π» πΈSomeone who goes there two days in a row β though this should be the last time this year. 1οΈβ£ Today was the second day of sour cherry picking. π¦ There were basically no big cherries left.π¦π¦ Sour cherries are the new trending "sports fruit" and great for preventing gout.ππ When fully ripe, they aren't too sour. ππ ππThe farm doesn't have a large area planted with sour cherries. πSaskatoon berries are a bit sweeter and grown on a much larger scale; if you go deeper into the orchard and look up and around, there are still quite a few big ones. ππ But I'm not really into berries, and I prefer cherries that are big and sweet. ππ π£So for cherries priced at $7.5 a pound, I only picked $4.5 worth β you can imagine how little that was.ππ But once I got home, I was pretty glad there wasn't much left to pick, because they were really sour and I had no desire to eat them...β€οΈπ It's a good idea to buy fresh vegetables at the farm. π€₯ Everyone was lining up to check out, and the prices are great.π»π» I bought a farm pizza and scone for snacks. The pizza was not greasy at all and tasted good β the Hawaiian one was $18.ππ 2οΈβ£ Drive 20km west and you'll reach the Okotoks Erratics, those giant boulders. π₯©π₯© ππIt's incredible: they floated here on ice over 10,000 years ago, from the recently burned Jasper National Park area!π 3οΈβ£ Highly recommend driving another 10 minutes or so to Black Diamond town!π Their ice cream shop claims to have 24 flavors β you might not get all of them, but none of the ones I tried disappointed: pistachio almond, rum raisin, French vanilla bean, and honey walnut. π€Άπ€Ά Sweet but not cloying, each flavor is rich and creamy without being heavy.ππ ποΈποΈAbsolutely delicious, and affordable too! One scoop is $4, two scoops are only $6, and you can mix flavors. Another fulfilling day! First-time picking checked β ! Nostalgic small-town vibes checked β !ππ #OneDayTrip #Outdoors
