Finally caught a day without sea fog! After work, I drove from San Francisco to Half Moon Bay just for the sunset. 🗺️ Location: The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay 📍 Address: 1 Miramontes Point Rd, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019 🅿️ Parking: Even if you’re not staying at the Ritz, you can still enjoy the view. Just let the security guard know you’re there to see the ocean, and they’ll direct you to public parking near the golf course restaurant.👌 The best viewing spot is along the wooden fence by the sea, past the vast golf course lawns. You can walk south along the cliff path down to the beach or simply explore the castle-like grounds of the Ritz and cozy up by one of their outdoor fire pits.😊 About 10 minutes before sunset, a bagpiper begins his procession along the coast. Everyone—whether they’re warming by the fire or taking photos—falls silent to listen. Half Moon Bay’s beauty lies in its vast, untouched nature, making you feel like you’ve reached the edge of the world, gently embraced by the sea and greenery.😊 Driving along Highway 1 from north to south during golden hour is also a breathtaking experience 😭. If you’re visiting San Francisco and have good weather and time to spare, definitely save a sunset for Half Moon Bay.
