Seal Watching in Edinburgh 🦭 | How Did I Only Just Learn About This?!
🌟Thanks to the tips from friends who’ve gone before, our spontaneous seal watching trip went super smoothly! They even mentioned that the bus arrives 10 minutes early, which saved us from any transportation hiccups. 🌟After returning, I took a close look at the “Enjoy Respect Protect Our Seal” brochure provided by St Abb’s Head National Nature Reserve (pictured in the top comment), and realized something very important. The brochure emphasizes 📣 the necessity of using binoculars and zoom cameras for watching the seals. It dawned on me that, besides bringing distant objects into clear view, binoculars also help maintain a respectful distance between humans and wildlife. Lesson learned! 🌟It’s crucial to keep a distance from the pups on the shore, especially the tiny ones that urgently needed space to grow. If a mother seal senses humans or their scent, she may feed her young less frequently. We saw a rather thin and small seal, and I wonder if this could be a reason. The staff mentioned that the survival rate of seal pups is only about 50%, and to maintain a natural wild state, they don’t intervene to save pups that can’t survive. This deepened my understanding of nature’s cruelty and beauty. #Wildlife #ProtectWildlife #EdinburghSealWatching
