Day 8: A Day of Exploring Little Critters 🐾😄 University of Saskatchewan Still kicked off the day with an early morning stroll around campus 🏫. No wonder it’s an agricultural powerhouse—they’ve even got a greenhouse on campus! Pretty cool! Even the classrooms are packed with greenery, which instantly relaxed my mood 🌿😌. Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo Of course, a zoo enthusiast had to check this out! 🐒🎫 Compared to Calgary’s zoo, Saskatoon’s version is way more humble, but still worth a visit! 😉 The animals near the entrance are pretty ordinary—deer, cows, you name it . But as you venture deeper, you’ll spot dingoes! 🦺 They look like stray golden retrievers from the village entrance or even Shiba Inus! They’ll even come up to the glass when you whistle—adorable! 🥰 First time seeing Australia’s “country dogs”—definitely expanded my horizons! 👀 The zoo isn’t huge; you can explore everything in under two hours. Grasslands National Park Today’s highlight was this national park! 🏞️🔥 First things first: if you’re heading here, download the map beforehand , choose a vehicle suitable for off-roading (some roads are rocky!) 🚙💨, and stock up on water and snacks . A huge chunk of the park has zero services , and during off-season, you might be the only car around! 🚗🌄 There are tons of wolves here 🐺, so it’s a bit risky after sunset. Come prepared! We visited the West Block . You pay and grab a map at the entrance . Inside, you’ll find prairie dogs , rattlesnakes , wolves , and deer 🦌🌿. We went in October—though rattlesnakes supposedly aren’t super active then 🐍❄️, we still wore high boots just in case! We spent around three hours inside ⏰🌄. Saw every critter except the rattlesnakes . The prairie dogs were everywhere! 🐹 Near the U.S. border, we suddenly got cell signal . Since we weren’t sure we’d finish the park before sunset, we turned back and left before dark 🌄. After leaving, the sun had already set . There were tons of deer by the roadside 🦌🛣️, and they weren’t scared of cars at all! They’d even run onto the road when they saw us coming!
