📍 Serene Horse Ranch | Sunlight · Horses · Forest · Stream The weather was perfect last weekend, so we booked a trail ride at Serene Horse Ranch in NJ. To make a reservation, just text them your name and time—super easy! The 1-hour trail ride costs 50/person∗∗,plusa∗∗NJhorseridingpermit(27/person, valid until year-end). We left NYC around 9 AM and arrived in about 1.5 hours. When we got there, we weren’t sure how to enter, but a little dog ran out to greet us and led us inside 🐕✨. Once inside, we could choose our horses or let the owner recommend some. We rode Honey (a white horse) and Panama (a dark brown one). The horses were well-trained—they knew how to turn, stop, and go with gentle cues. After a quick practice session in the ranch, we set off on our adventure. It was early summer morning, still cool and fresh. We strolled through the forest, with sunlight filtering through the leaves, casting dappled shadows like a painting. We crossed open meadows where the sun danced on the grass, then waded through a shallow stream, listening to the water gently splashing against the horses’ hooves. The horses walked calmly at times and broke into a light trot at others—the hour-long ride felt like a dream. After the ride, we had time to explore the ranch, sunbathe, pet and feed the horses, and even say hi to the resting sheep and cows in the shade.
