SF Restaurant Week Early Visit|Kaiyo - Nikkei Cuisine
I was so excited about SF Restaurant Week that I made a reservation right away — only to realize upon arriving that the event doesn’t start until Tuesday 😅. Still, we ordered a few dishes to get a taste of the place. 🟢 Miso Black Cod Tender fish with well-balanced miso flavor. Served with greens that cut through the richness nicely. 🟢 Ebiten Handroll Tasted fresh and delicious, though the plastic wrap was a bit tricky to remove 🍙. 🟡 Braised Short Ribs The meat was fall-apart tender, but quite salty. The corn on the side was sweet and tasty — decent, but not my favorite. 🔴 Spicy Scallop Hokkaido Udon Extremely salty — nearly inedible 🥲. We asked the kitchen to remake it, but it didn’t improve much. Ended up rinsing it with water to get through… 🟢 Pinku Cocktail A strawberry-based drink 🍓. The first sip had a slightly overripe fruit note, but it grew on me as I kept drinking. The restaurant ambiance is pleasant, and parking around the area isn’t too bad 🅿️. Overall, I felt their hot dishes were just okay — you might enjoy it more if you treat it as a regular Japanese spot. 💵 Around $70 per person. #BayArea #BayAreaFoodScenes #SFfood #SanFranciscoEats #BayAreaEats #SanFrancisco
