Shota Omakase New York 🌟

Overall, it was decent—not bad at all. The price is $195, and it’s relatively easy to book, but you have to keep your expectations in check. 🌺 However, compared to places like Hirohisa and Kanoyama at the same price point, they still seem to be more reliable. Before going, I heard from friends that you might not feel full and need to add seven or eight more pieces. šŸŽ¢ Maybe it’s just that my stomach isn’t in great shape these days, but 18 courses were more than enough to fill me up. šŸ™ļøFor the first time, I saw them make a nigiri with pure rice. 🌸They said it was the top 1% rice and even gave a little speech about it. But honestly, while the rice itself seemed good, the steaming technique seemed inconsistent. Some pieces were delicious, while others felt like the rice was about to fall apart—too watery and unable to hold its shape. Overall, it was quite salty—both the rice and the brushed soy sauce. šŸƒ The good thing is that the chef was really nice. When I asked for less soy sauce, he obliged, but it was still pretty salty. I could drink two liters of water just from the saltiness, and maybe that’s why I felt full! The sashimi was average, but the uni (sea urchin) and tuna rice were pretty good, and the final truffle cod roll was delicious. One downside: they don’t accept domestic credit cards for payment. 🌟 This is a restaurant I probably won’t visit again. #omakase #fancydinner #japanesecuisine #japanesefood
