Singapore Hiking: Three Off-the-Beaten-Path Routes
1⃣️ Clementi Forest Duration: 1 hour Start from MRT King Albert Park Exit A, turn left and walk for about 5 minutes to enter the Rail Corridor. You'll see an old train station and tracks; continue walking along the direction of the tracks for about 10 minutes. Pay attention to the right side of the road where you'll spot three white signs in the grass (warning not to enter the Canal). Follow the grassy path into the forest. The trail is quite wild, essentially following the abandoned railway tracks and stream through the forest. ⚠️ Be aware that the first half of the journey involves muddy sections and climbing due to tree obstructions. It's best to wear dirty-resistant clothes and shoes (long sleeves and pants are recommended to prevent insects and branches). After passing through the tunnel, the second half is relatively easier, and the exit leads to a HDB area in Clementi, about a 15-minute walk from Clementi Mall. 2⃣️ Labrador Park - Harbourfront Duration: 2 hours The first half of the route crosses a forest on the mountain, and the second half follows the coastal walkway (sun protection is necessary). This route is generally less crowded, and it's best to go in groups if visiting at night. Start from MRT Labrador Park Exit A and follow the signs to walk along the driveway for about 10 minutes to see the park entrance. You can choose your own path in the forest based on the park map, generally heading uphill past the battery ruins, then downhill towards the beach. After reaching the coast, I chose to go left, where you can see the sea cliffs. Then follow the Bukit Chermin Boardwalk along the sea, passing by the marine walkway, mangroves, Keppel Bay, and finally arriving at Vivocity. 3⃣️ Little Guilin Duration: 0.5 hours Start from MRT Bukit Gombak and search for the direction of Little Guilin on a map. Walk for about 5 minutes, and you'll see a long stone staircase. You can choose to climb the stairs to the small hill, where you'll see the iconic peak. The entire park is very small, and it takes about 0.5 hours to walk around the water. After finishing, you can continue towards the nearby Bukit Batok Nature Park (about 15 minutes), and after crossing it, you can see the old Ford factory. #Singapore #SingaporeHiking #StudyingInSingapore #HikingRouteRecommendations #ClementiForest #LabradorPark #LittleGuilin
