So glad I visited this place before leaving Paris
đ Montmartre, Paris In the days before the Olympics, Paris was teeming with tourists, and the whole city was busy preparing in an orderly way. After a gloomy day, the sky finally cleared up in the eveningâso I decided to find a quiet spot to stay until sunset đ. Montmartre, where the SacrĂ©-CĆur Basilica stands, had been a place Iâd wanted to visit for ages during my previous trips to Paris. But the area around the basilica was just as crowded, and Iâd heard itâs home to some of Parisâ most skilled pickpockets. Having once been robbed clean in Europe, I still had a bit of PTSD đŁ. However, a random image I saw online made me hop on a bus there right awayâcuriosity won out! That image is the first photo of this postâjust navigate to "Buste de Dalida," and youâll find this winding path đ¶âïž. Itâs lined with ivy-cloaked walls and little houses with colorful shutters, so charming it feels like a secret. Following it uphill leads to SacrĂ©-CĆur, but I didnât linger there long. Instead, I kept walking through the quiet residential streets, camera in hand, capturing Parisâ sunset scenes đž. The golden light spilled over the red-tiled roofs like liquid honey đŻ, and the ivy crawling up the old walls glowed warm, as if kissed by the sun. A few cats stretched lazily on doorsteps, blinking at the light đ±, and an elderly lady watered her window boxesâpetunias and geraniums blooming bright đž. No crowds, no hustle, just the soft hum of a Parisian neighborhood at dusk: a distant accordion, the clink of a cafĂ© terrace glass, a childâs laugh from a balcony.
