So in Love with This Elegant Townhouse Chinese Bistro 🥢
After work today, I visited Chili, a refined Chinese restaurant on the island. The décor gives off a mix of old Shanghai charm with a touch of French flair 🏡✨. The waitstaff were all dressed in suits and ties 🤵, and with the holiday decorations still up, the vibe was absolutely lovely and festive. We ordered the Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish 🐟, and it was stunning—crispy on the outside, coated in a perfectly balanced tangy sauce, and so authentic with every bite. It went perfectly with steamed rice 🍚! We also tried the Pickled Pepper Beef 🌶️—spicy, aromatic, and super appetizing. The beef was tender, and the green and red peppers added a burst of fragrance. Exactly the kind of Sichuan flavor I love! Their new dish, Spicy Beef Tendon, was incredibly tasty 😋—soft, chewy, and soaked in rich chili oil and Sichuan peppercorn flavor. Even better than I expected! The Garlic Shanghai Greens 🥬 were fresh and light, a perfect balance after all those bold flavors. To finish, the Sweet Fermented Rice Glutinous Balls 🍡 were delightful—sweet, soft, and served with dry ice for a smoky, dramatic presentation. It felt like such a special treat! Overall, the flavors here are consistent and well-executed. The Sichuan dishes are robust but not greasy, making it a great spot for gathering with friends or whenever you’re craving something warm and spicy 🌶️❤️. 📍 Location: 13 E 37th St, New York, NY 10016 If you enjoyed my review, don’t forget to like, follow, and save 💖📌!
