Solo in Jordan | The People of Amman Outshine the Sights
A day wandering Amman’s old town taught me: while the landmarks are impressive, it’s the warm, eccentric locals who make this city unforgettable. Everyone’s an extrovert here, and their kindness toward Chinese travelers is downright healing. Unmissable Experiences 🎭 Roman Theatre Arrived before its 5 PM closing—perfect timing to then catch sunset at the Citadel. Unlike Jerash’s ruins, this theater pulses with local life. Got "adopted" by a grandpa who escorted me through chaotic traffic, then ambushed by kids demanding photos (thank you, random hero girls who rescued me!). ⛰️ Amman Citadel The city’s highest point. Though less grand than Jerash, the sunset views over the hilly metropolis (and that theater you just visited) are surreal. Watch the sky shift colors minute by minute! 🌈 Rainbow Street The bougie heart of Amman—cafés, galleries, and great people-watching. Food Adventures ☕️ The Duke’s Diwan A converted 1920s post office where Arab girls schooled me in Instagram angles. The unfiltered Arabic coffee (2.5 JD) tasted like liquid regret—but the vibe’s free! 🍰 Habibah Sweets Queue with locals for Kunafa—crispy top, gooey cheese beneath. Met an Amman guy who lived in Guangzhou; we bonded over food before I (regretfully) ditched him for sights. 🍨 Bekdash Ice Cream Watch them pound pistachio Booza with giant mallets. Chewy, fragrant, and theatrically made. 🍴 Sufra Restaurant A MENA Top 50 spot. Their Mansaf (yogurt lamb + pine nuts) was sublime… until the owner casually mentioned his mom’s homemade version rivals it. Cool, cool. 🍹 Random Juice Shop Sampled 8 mystery drinks (hot lentil juice?!). Settled on pomegranate—so sweet it required emergency water chasers. #Amman #VisitJordan
