South Africa | Ballito Crocodile Park + Food & Fun
Ballito, one of South Africa's premier coastal resort towns just north of Durban, stole our hearts this trip. We stayed in a seaside apartment near Thompson Bay—waking up to breathtaking ocean views from our balcony (see first photo ☀️) was pure bliss. 🐠 uShaka Sea World Features: A massive shipwreck-themed aquarium (one of the world’s largest). Daily dolphin and seal shows. Predator tanks with sharks, rays, and eels. Snorkeling and shark cage diving experiences (for adults and kids). 🐊 Ballito Crocodile Creek Only a 15-minute drive from town (with a bumpy 5-minute dirt-road stretch), this park offered an up-close look at crocs during the 1-hour guided tour. The highlight? Snapping a photo with a (very calm) crocodile! ☕️ The Waterberry Tea Garden One of Ballito’s most beloved cafés, this airy, kid-friendly spot (like many SA eateries, it has a play area) is famous for its huge, delicious cheesecake. We devoured the blueberry slice—so good! Pro tip: Book ahead in December; it’s packed over Christmas holidays. Don’t miss their Rooibos Cappuccino, a uniquely South African twist blending red bush tea with espresso. 🦐 Mozambik Ballito An open-air Mozambican-style seafood haven. The grilled giant prawns with coconut rice (drenched in spicy sauce) were next-level. Some tables even let you dip your feet in water—total vacation vibes! 😎 Foodie Verdict While South Africa’s Chinese food disappoints, its seafood, braai (BBQ), and global flavors shine—tasty and affordable! #TravelInspo #HiddenGems #SeasideEscape #SouthAfricaAdventures#FoodieFinds #CrocEncounters #BallitoEats #RooibosLove
