Southern France: Avignon & Nîmes 🇫🇷✨

Today was exhausting (still need to work overtime 😩), but let me procrastinate with some South of France memories first~ 🏰 Avignon Medieval walled old town (UNESCO-listed) with perfectly preserved 14th-century ramparts. Outside the walls? A bit shabby. Fun fact: Became the popes’ HQ (13th-16th century) when Rome was too chaotic! Easy access: Just 2.5hrs by TGV from Paris. We returned our rental car in Paris, took the train south, then rented another car—smooth! ⭐️ Nîmes: Rome’s Mini-Me Arena of Nîmes: One of only 6 surviving Roman amphitheaters! Tiny vs. Rome’s Colosseum but still hosts concerts/bullfights—ancient meets modern! 🎪 Maison Carrée: A 2,000-year-old temple so old, medieval folks forgot its purpose. Modern clue? Rusted inscriptions revealed it honors Caesar’s twin grandsons (and Gemini twins Castor/Pollux!). ♊️ Missed: The fountain, watchtower (next time!). #FranceTravel #HiddenRome #AvignonVibes
