Southern Hidden Gem | Charleston, SC πΏπ€
I recently discovered the charm of the American South β Charleston is a relatively underrated destination where you can experience authentic vintage American town vibes. ποΈ This historic city in South Carolina has been named the "No. 1 City in the U.S." by Travel + Leisure for multiple years. Not exaggerating β every corner feels like a movie scene! π¬ We started from Atlanta and spent 3 days and 2 nights there, which was enough to cover the main attractions. β‘οΈ Recommended Spots π Rainbow Row A super Instagrammable street! Pastel-colored walls + shutters + Southern-style balconies = ultimate fairy-tale charm. π Best visited in the morning for fewer crowds and soft light. Outfit tip: wear a French-style vintage dress for great photos! π π Historic Downtown Cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages, colonial architecture β every step feels like traveling back to the 19th century. π Highly recommend renting a bike to explore slowly. π Magnolia Plantation An old Southern plantation with rich history and a unique glimpse into the past. πΈ In spring, cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom everywhere β stunning! Tickets are around $20-30 β book online in advance. π Sullivanβs Island & Folly Beach Perfect for sunbathing and sunset watching! Just a 30-minute drive from downtown. The beaches are clean and peaceful β ideal for a relaxing evening. π π½οΈ Food Recommendations π Pooganβs Porch A beautifully converted historic house serving classic Southern dishes. We ordered: Fried Chicken & Biscuits with honey butter Shrimp & Grits Everything was delicious! π Recommended: ask for a table on the porch! π 167 Raw Oyster Bar A seafood spot known for fresh oysters and lobster rolls. π¦π¦ͺ Highly recommend the lobster roll! Charleston is truly a place youβll fall in love with. β€οΈ It doesnβt have the hustle of a big city, but it offers the unique Southern blend of gentleness, vintage charm, artsy vibes, and romance. Already planning to explore more Southern cities next! π #AtlantaDayTrips #SouthernFood #AmericanSouth #MemorialDayWeekend #USAHoliday #CharlestonFood #CharlestonTravel #CharlestonSC #SouthernTravel π§³
