Spain | Royal Palace of Madrid + Almudena Cathedral + Temple of Debod

🚗 Today’s itinerary: Flea market - Royal Palace of Madrid - Almudena Cathedral - Temple of Debod - Teabar bubble tea shop - Vicens - San Miguel Market 🍽️ Breakfast at Pumpum Bakery; Dinner at Meson del Champinon 🫧 Royal Palace of Madrid Royal Palace of Madrid Don’t be intimidated by the long queues! If you have a ticket, join the shorter line on the left. Make sure to arrive on time and show the staff your electronic ticket for a quick security check. Before you know it, you’ll be at the official entrance. ▫️ Tickets 🎫 We bought ours in advance from the official website for 16 euros per person (normal tickets are 12 euros, but we only found this guided tour option left, which turned out to be in Spanish 🥲) ▫️ The rooms inside are stunningly beautiful. No photos allowed, the staff said, to encourage more people to see it in person. But I snuck a few anyway! The colors are rich and bold, the carvings are lavish and intricate, and the green vine room was also super beautiful, even though I didn’t get a picture! ▫️ 📷 Girls can wear a little dress for the visit. The stairs are separated on both sides, and the exit side seems more suitable for photos. The crowd is constant, so you’ll need to find gaps between tourist groups. 🫧 Almudena Cathedral Almudena Cathedral The main cathedral of the Madrid Archdiocese, right across from the Royal Palace. ▫️ Entry is free; we didn’t visit the museum, which requires a ticket. ▫️ It’s not very big and can be explored quickly, making it easy to fit into your schedule. The dome and the stained glass windows are beautifully lit and worth a visit. It’s grand and dignified. 🫧 Temple of Debod The Temple of Debod A bit further away, it’s the only ancient Egyptian temple in Spain. It’s not very special, so we just passed by for a quick visit. It’s also free. 🫧 Vicens Sells traditional torrons (almond nougat) with many stores. Great as a souvenir. I’ll write about it in another post about souvenirs! #SpainTravel #RoyalPalaceOfMadrid #SpainTrip #SpainTravelGuide #WeekendGetaways #EuropeTravel #TempleOfDebod #MadridSightseeing #DocumentingMyCity #Spain #MadridSpain #HolidayDestinations #LifeMoments #Madrid #TravelTips
