Sri Lanka Travel Day 10: Colombo City Area

✈️ Day 10: Colombo City - Chengdu Granbell Hotel Colombo🎄🎄 The hotel we stayed in in Colombo is just opposite the railway station. ✨We didn't realize it was an internet-famous hotel until after booking. From the room, you can see the trains downstairs. The standard sea-view king room is only 429 yuan (excluding meals), which is very cost-effective. 👣👣 👀There's an infinity pool on the top floor where you can overlook Colombo's urban scenery. There's also a lounge bar, which gets very lively at night. Independence Square A landmark cultural square in Sri Lanka, it's the venue where the independence ceremony was held on February 4, 1948. The pillars of the memorial hall are carved with exquisite murals, and there are 60 stone lions of different shapes around it.💓 ❤️❤️Colombo National Museum + National Museum of Natural History We confusedly bought tickets and first went to the National Museum of Natural History. The ticket is 1,500 rupees (35.125 yuan) per person. It mainly exhibits Sri Lanka's native plants and animals, as well as specimens of some endangered species. The most shocking one is the whale skeleton.💕 Right behind it is the National Museum. The grand and exquisite two-story white building attracts many people to check in. The ticket is included in the previous 15,000 rupees.🎊 ✨✨The exhibition halls are very rich, and it takes at least an hour to visit. The museum houses precious cultural relics from various historical periods of Sri Lanka, including stone statues, bronze statues, gemstones, weapons, paintings, textiles, metal products, folk handicrafts, murals, and Chinese porcelain. It's said that there's also a stone tablet found in 1912, which was built by China's Zheng He during his voyage to the Western Seas.🎁 Colombo Lotus Tower✨ With a height of 356 meters, it is currently the tallest tower in South Asia and was co-constructed by China and Sri Lanka. You can enjoy a 360-degree view of Colombo from the top, but the ticket costs 20 US dollars, so we gave up. 🎈Red Mosque (Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque) Located in Pettah Market, it is famous for its unique red and white striped brick exterior. The opening hours are stated as 9:00-17:00, but there are restrictions on visitor entry times, and it's not clear how exactly they are arranged. We arrived at 3:30 and were told to come back at 4 o'clock, and we needed to enter through Gate 3. We came back promptly at 4 o'clock but still couldn't enter immediately; we had to wait in the waiting area at the entrance, which was extremely hot without air conditioning or ventilation. At 4:20, the staff came out and gave everyone robes to put on before we could enter. When we finally got in, a few more tourists arrived, so we waited again for them to put on their robes before entering together. We were already sweating all over from the heat. As soon as we entered, we saw worshippers wiping their bodies with water from the pool, and some even drank it directly. Visitors couldn't move around freely and could only follow the group for the tour, with introductions given to us. Since we couldn't understand English and the baby kept running around, we basically didn't get much out of it. Galle Face Green Located in the center of Colombo's financial and commercial district, it's an open square where many locals like to fly kites, feed crows, etc. Across the road from the square is One Galle Face, Colombo's largest shopping mall🚗 You need to go through security check to enter. The mall has a good range of brands, and you can buy some souvenirs there.⛅ #Colombo #SriLankaTravel #SriLanka #SriLankaTrip #SriLankaCharter #TravelGuide #ForeignTravel
