Stop 2 in Upstate NY: Albany 🏛️

Albany – the capital of New York State 🗽 Stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Albany-Downtown. While heading out to find food, I noticed Empire Live right next door. There was a Phantogram live show at 8:00 PM — couldn’t resist! American rock with electronic psychedelic vibes? Exactly my style. 🎸🤘 Bought the ticket around 6:00 PM for about $50, but by 7:00 PM, it dropped to $40. Lesson learned: sometimes it pays to wait till the last minute! 💸 Dinner was a bowl of Tom Yum Noodle Soup at Emmanuel Thai Restaurant 🍜. After eating, took a relaxing walk along the Hudson River trail 🌊. At the concert, I truly felt how short I am here… If a tall person stood in front of me, I couldn’t see a thing! People weren’t holding up phones much, and everyone kept a polite distance—no pushing, no mosh pits, no “train” chaos. (Back at music festivals in China, I was always scared of sudden crowd surges and fire effects 😅) The next day, I visited the New York State Capitol 🏛️. Free tours are offered at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM — about an hour long. It’s gorgeous! Absolutely stunning ✨ When completed in 1899, it cost $25 million to build. I personally think it’s even more impressive than the U.S. Capitol in Washington. Lots of fun details: unfinished carvings, 78 sculpted faces—many randomly designed by the artisans! Didn’t take many photos, but got some nice videos. Will share once edited! 🎥 Behind the Capitol is a plaza connecting The Egg, Corning Tower, and the Museum. The Egg was closed, so I only saw it from outside. Corning Tower has a free observatory on the 42nd floor with a 360° view of Albany 🌆. The museum is also free! Lunch was a burger at The City Beer Hall 🍔. This was honestly the best beef burger I’ve had in the past year! The bun was crispy, the patty was juicy and flavorful… perfection 😋 After that, it was off to the next stop: Syracuse! And the clouds I saw from the train were just breathtaking ☁️❤️. #Albany #NewYork #USA #RoadTrip #TravelDiary #HiddenGems #StudyAbroadLife #Photography #UpstateNY
