Stuck in 1832 | An Unchanged Room

Stuck in 1832 | An Unchanged Room 🕰️ 📝 Visitors to Edinburgh must have been to the Scott Monument, and are certainly familiar with Waverley Station in the old city center. The "Waverley" in Waverley Station is exactly the name of the protagonist in Sir Walter Scott’s novels! 📚 📝 So, what kind of place did this famous Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 writer and his family live in? The answer is Abbotsford! 🏰 📝 Scott’s study features a two-story bookshelf with a spiral staircase, as gorgeous and detailed as depicted in British dramas and Japanese anime 🎞️. The drawing room for the female members of the family is this beautiful green room in my first photo, painted with the British wealthy’s imagination of Eastern life back then. His most cherished armory, though small in size, is absolutely impressive—it’s the room we admired the longest, taking photos, discussing, and exclaiming all the while 😲. After wandering around the interior, there’s a small chapel and two gardens outside 🌳. Full of clever ideas, it’s a wonderful house where you can calm down and explore slowly. 📝 Since Germans and Italians can confidently avoid doing English reading comprehension on the guidebooks here, I naturally picked up the rare Chinese translation of the guidebook for this small attraction 📖. 📝 Ordinarily, this booklet is for recycling and can’t be taken away. Before returning it when I left, I just took two photos and was about to flip further when the elderly administrator rushed over, looked left and right, made sure there was no one else around, then leaned in and whispered: 📝 "People always say I’m naughty, but so what? I won’t change." "Normally, people really can’t take our translation books away, but I love your outfit today! It’s absolutely beautiful. I can tell you carefully matched your clothes, shoes, and socks. I couldn’t help but talk to you, hope you don’t mind. And I had such a beautiful leather bag when I was young too." 💬 📝 "As long as you don’t mind the booklet is a bit tattered, please don’t stand on ceremony!" "Hurry, hurry! Put it away and hide it under your coat!" 🤫 "I saw nothing, you know! Remember to recommend this place to your friends." 🍸 She deliberately turned her head away and even gestured to teach us how to hide the booklet. We almost laughed out loud—grandma was too kind, hhh 😂. 🍸 Well, it’s better to respectfully obey than decline! I can’t let all those compliments go to waste 😉. 🍸 So I must shout loudly: Abbotsford is great! Convenient for self-driving and public transport, cheap tickets, beautiful gardens, and lively, chatty administrators. Don’t miss it if you pass by! (It’s a great chance to practice listening and speaking, kidding.) You’ll definitely not regret coming—only be full of surprises ✨. 🍸 So, to all netizens traveling to Edinburgh! Please make sure to set aside a day to visit here \(*¯︶¯*)/ 🗺️ #Janemarple#janemarple#jm#abbotsford
