Successfully Refunded My ICOCA Card at Kansai Airport 🎉
Refunding an ICOCA card at Osaka Kansai Airport is super convenient! 🌸🍃 I bought the card from a vending machine at Kyoto Station. It seems that you can purchase these cards from vending machines at almost every station. 🌸🍃 Since it's so easy to get one, I decided to refund mine this time. 🚅 ⚠️ Refund Rules: If the card balance is within 220 yen, the refund will only return the deposit, not the balance. If the card balance exceeds 220 yen, a 220-yen handling fee will be deducted, and then the remaining balance and deposit will be refunded. ❗️❗️❗️ How to Avoid the Handling Fee When Refunding? Many friends spend their balance down to 0 at convenience stores before refunding. If you have a significant balance left, this is a good option. 💡 If the balance is low, check the transportation cost from your location to the airport on Google Maps. 🌸🍃 If the balance is less than the fare, you can do what I did: I took the train from Namba to the airport, which cost around 920 yen, and I had about 800 yen left on my card. Instead of recharging, I used the fare adjustment machine (similar to a ticket supplement machine) at the airport. Place the card on the machine, and it will automatically show how much more you need to pay. 🌸🍃 Then, simply pay the difference directly on the machine and exit by swiping the card. This way, the balance on the card will be exactly 0. 🚉 After exiting, head to the manned counter to refund the card. With a 0 balance, you'll get the full 500-yen deposit back without any handling fee! 💰 🌸🍃 #Japan #Travel #KansaiAirport #ICOCA #RealLifeTips 🌆🌟
