Surprise Kaiseki Delight at Hakubai 🌟

A new kaiseki restaurant, Hakubai, has opened in the Japanese Prince Hotel in Midtown. It opened its doors on January 9th last year, adding another gem to New York’s kaiseki scene. 🌺 The restaurant is located in the basement of the hotel, but the ambiance is fantastic, with a spacious and elegant feel. I heard that the prices will go up with the new spring menu next week, so I decided to give it a try before the prices change. 🌸 Overall, the dishes were quite good, and the chefs were very friendly and approachable. However, the service was a bit of a letdown—quite inexperienced. 🙁 Some standout dishes included the Uni Chawanmushi, which was incredibly tender and delicate, and the sashimi, which was top-notch. The Wagyu was also excellent—rich and flavorful without being greasy. 🍣 The other dishes were decent but didn’t leave a lasting impression, including the eel rice bowl that’s been highly recommended on social media—it was just okay. 🐟 But the desserts were truly a highlight and deserve a special mention. Even the palate cleanser was delicious, and the strawberry cake was a standout. 🍰 Overall, it’s worth a visit, and I hope the service improves over time. 📍 66 Park Ave, New York, NY 10016 #ChroniclerOfARomanticLife #NotebookInspiration 🌟
