Sushi Sho | Ordinary Yet Two-Starred (1)🌟
First, let's get straight to the point: it's good but not amazing. It feels ordinary, and I didn't get the sense of a two-star Michelin experience... 🍣 Service: 10/10 🎢 The service here is impeccable—enthusiastic but not overbearing, with just the right amount of friendly conversation. The staff have great chat skills, making you feel engaged without any awkwardness or intrusion. It's the perfect balance! 😊 🍃 Taste: Maybe I had set my expectations too high before coming. Both the appetizers and the sushi felt pretty bland to me. It's similar to my experience at Sho in Hawaii—nothing particularly amazing, but nothing bad either. 🌊 It's interesting to note that when I visited Sho in Hawaii, I thought it was average because the head chef wasn't there. I had always assumed that was why it felt ordinary... but now, seeing the New York version, it seems that's not the case. The New York one isn't any better. The shorter menu does feel a bit too short. After finishing the menu, it feels like the meal has just begun, so I added 17 more pieces. 🍣 🌸 It's always fun to hear people compare Sushi Sho to Masa. But honestly, there's not much to compare. Compared to Masa's current offerings like the "eel and banana nigiri" or "foie gras nigiri"... well, those are all sweet and small-sized. 🏙️So, if we're talking about value for money, I'd still go with Sho. If we're comparing Edomae-style sushi to Masa's more creative approach, it's like comparing apples to oranges. Even Nakazawa, who is such a great chef, would probably agree that it's not a fair comparison. 🌟 #SushiSho
