Swimming in a Glacial Pool in Alaska

🧊🏊‍♀️In my last post, I left you guessing what I was doing in that icy water – well, here’s the answer: I was SWIMMING, cliff jumping, and paddleboarding in a glacial meltwater pool! And it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! ❄️💙 Our adventure started with putting on dry suits (yes, full waterproof gear!), and the very first thing our guide had us do was jump into the freezing water. Why? To get used to the cold and shake off any fear of falling in later! The air temperature was around 10°C that day, and let me tell you – that jump was THRILLING! I jumped three times and would’ve done it all afternoon if I wasn’t worried about ruining my hair and makeup 😏 After jumping, we got a quick lesson on stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and headed out onto the water. Since it was just me and my partner, we ended up with a private tour – one guide stayed on the glacier, and another followed us in an inflatable kayak. We thought we’d just paddle around the pool, but after 30 minutes, the guide asked: “Want to see something really cool?” Of course we said yes! He led us deeper into the glacial channels – it felt like a mini expedition. I spent most of the time kneeling or sitting for balance, but the views were UNREAL. He even told us that some people come here later in the season for free diving! 🤿 And that’s not all – this tour also included glacier hiking! Truly a full-day adventure. 🌟 Tour Details: We booked with Alaska Helicopter Tour – the package is called “Helicopter + Glacier Paddle Boarding”. 💯 Honestly, this might be one of the top three tours we’ve ever done anywhere in the world. If you only do one tour in Alaska, make it this one! 🌎 A Note on Climate Change: Seeing the glaciers up close – and hearing how quickly they’re melting – was heartbreaking. These landscapes might not be here for much longer. It reminded me how important it is to protect our beautiful planet. 💔 Let’s do our part to keep Earth wild and wonderful. #US #Alaska # glacier paddle
