Thanksgiving Week (2)π¦
Ever since I had some delicious Vietnamese food in Australia during the summer vacation, I hadn't had authentic Vietnamese cuisine for a long time. ππΈ On Monday, I met up with a friend at a bustling Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered vermicelli, which is more of a summer dish, but it was still good. ππΈThe chargrilled lemongrass chicken had many charred spots, but it tasted great. I also tried my friend's pho broth, which was really tasty. After having the red devil shrimp at the market in Barcelona during the summer, I thought I wouldn't have the chance to enjoy the rich shrimp head oil for a long time. But to my surprise, I had it again in New York, and it was still as expensive as ever. ππΈ The blue cheese foam with pork shoulder sounded a bit off-putting at first because I'm not a big fan of blue cheese. But it turned out to be a creamy mushroom soup. The foam wasn't light and airy; it had a more substantial, soup-like texture. ππΈEarlier this week, a friend took me to visit Barnard. It has a different urban women's college vibe compared to MHC. For lunch, we went to an Italian deli nearby and got a sandwich with ham, burrata, tomatoes, arugula, focaccia, and truffle honey. It was my first time having a sandwich with honey, and the sweetness balanced the salty ham, bringing out a richer flavor. ππΈI was once again surprised by the portion size and only managed to eat half of it. My friend finished the other half the next day. #NewYork ππ
