The Artistic Heart of New Mexico | Santa Fe
Just an hour's drive from Albuquerque, when the roadside starts filling with low Adobe-style buildings, you know you've arrived at the most anticipated destination of this New Mexico trip—Santa Fe. Canyon Road is lined with hundreds of galleries, big and small, attracting artists from all over the U.S., including the legendary Georgia O’Keeffe. If you plan to visit any museums in the city, be sure to book in advance—tickets are limited daily, so it’s best to secure yours weeks ahead on their official website. 🏨 Accommodation: This time, we stayed at the famous artsy boutique hotel El Rey Court. Originally a motel, it was transformed into a Mid-Century Modern masterpiece after renovation. The lobby and bar are filled with vintage artistic charm, making it a perfect spot for photos. However, since it’s a renovated motel, don’t expect luxury—while the decor is trendy, the basic facilities remain modest. 😞 🌮 Dining Recommendations: Geronimo: The most recommended fine-dining spot in Santa Fe. Tucked at the end of Canyon Road, its unassuming exterior hides a luxurious interior. Impeccable service, ambiance, and food—absolutely no regrets! A must for fine dining in Santa Fe. 🌟 (Reservations required, valet parking only.) Paper Dosa: A delightful surprise! I rarely eat Indian food while traveling, but this place specializes in Southern Indian Cuisine, featuring rare dishes like Dosa—a crispy thin pancake dipped in flavorful sauces. (No reservations—be prepared to wait.) The Pantry: Right next to El Rey, this New Mexican restaurant is famous for brunch and gets packed in the morning. Affordable and delicious—a great budget-friendly choice! 🏜 Must-Visit Attractions: Meow Wolf: Honestly, I came to Santa Fe just for this! Meow Wolf is an art collective that originated here, creating the first immersive, surreal exhibition—now also in Vegas and Denver. The theme is a mysterious family home filled with hidden passages leading to otherworldly dimensions, like stepping into Alice in Wonderland. Spend at least two hours exploring every corner! Bandelier National Monument: An hour from downtown, this site features ancient cave dwellings carved into cliffs by Indigenous peoples, some still bearing petroglyphs. If you’re not afraid of heights, climb up to Alcove House at the end of the Main Loop for a breathtaking valley view. #NewMexico
