The Best Dim Sum I’ve Had in the Bay Area 🍡

On a weekend, my partner suggested trying out a new dim sum place. We heard it was pretty good and decided to give it a shot. Honeycomb Taro Puffs 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This was my first time trying this dish! The honeycomb texture is incredibly crispy, and the taro paste mixed with a savory filling creates a truly delightful combination. XO Sauce Claypot Turnip Cake 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The wok hei (stir-fried aroma) is very strong. You can taste the meat pieces in the turnip cake, and the XO sauce adds a fantastic flavor. Char Siu Rice Noodle Rolls 🌟🌟stars🌟🌟🌟 The rice noodles are filled with plenty of char siu (barbecue pork). The portion is really generous, and it’s best enjoyed when wrapped in the char siu sauce. Pepper-Salt Oysters πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒ— This is my first time having oysters prepared with pepper and salt. They’re deep-fried and then seasoned, making the oysters very plump and delicious. Malay Cake 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I absolutely love Malay cake, but many places don’t make it well. This one brought back memories of the perfect Malay cakeβ€”soft and chewy. Even my partner, who usually doesn’t get why I love it, fell in love with it this time. Shrimp Dumplings and Spare Ribs 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The shrimp dumplings are a great indicator of a restaurant’s quality, and these were excellent. This place has the widest variety of dim sum we’ve encountered since moving from Los Angeles to the Bay Area. Besides the common shrimp dumplings and steamed chicken feet in black bean sauce, there are many unique dishes I’ve never seen before. It’s really refreshing. Plus, the ambiance is fantasticβ€”enjoying tea while facing the ocean, without any wait time. The only downside is that the prices are a bit higher. But considering the setting and the generous portions, it’s still acceptable. We’ve already made this our go-to dim sum spot and plan to visit again to try more dishes. Highly recommended! 🏠 Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood Restaurant πŸ“ 3199 Powell St, Emeryville, CA 94608 #LocalFoodRecommendation #NotebookInspiration #BayAreaFood #RestaurantReview #CantoneseDimSum #FoodieDiary #BayAreaLife
