The Best Fried Chicken in Kentucky Is NOT KFC 🍗✨
On a whim, I decided to spend four days in Lexington — a quiet college town that feels especially sleepy during summer break. While Asian restaurants were a bit scarce downtown, I found a few gems worth recommending: 🍜 Pho Saigon: Solid Vietnamese pho 🇰🇷 Han Woo Ri: Reliable Korean comfort food 🍣 Omakase Japanese Restaurant: A highlight! The chefs (both Japanese and Chinese) were incredibly kind. When they saw us being served canned wasabi, they personally brought us a plate of freshly grated wasabi. Such a lovely touch! I also petted some horses (but didn’t ride), and became slightly obsessed with cuddling barn cats 🐎🐱. The original plan was a bourbon tour, but I learned too late that nearby tours sell out quickly 🥃. I ended up just visiting a gift shop and trying cream bourbon — which turned out to be deliciously smooth! And no, I didn’t eat at KFC. Why would I, when Gus’s Fried Chicken exists?! Their chicken is crispy on the outside, unbelievably juicy inside, and easily some of the best fried chicken I’ve had in the U.S. 🙌 A relaxing, unplanned trip full of good eats and cute animals — definitely no regrets! #Lexington#KYFood #FriedChicken #Bourbon #TravelKY #FoodieFind
