The Campbell | Hidden Speakeasy in New York's Grand Central Station π©
π The Campbell 15 Vanderbilt Ave, New York NY 10017 πThis speakeasy-style bar, dating back to 1923, is nestled within New York's iconic Grand Central Station. The upper level is known as the Campbell Apartment, which was once the office of John W. Campbell, a director of the New York Central Railroad and a financier. π Over $2 million was spent on renovations in 1999 and 2007 to restore the space to its former glory. πThe entire room is transformed into a 13th-century Florentine palace, complete with hand-painted plaster ceilings, leaded windows, and a four-foil mahogany balcony. The Persian carpet covering the entire floor, featuring a quatrefoil design, reportedly cost $300,000. π πΈ This Grand Central Station is just across from the office, and sometimes seeing the weathered architecture makes me marvel at the passage of time in the grand tapestry of human history. When we go back to work, let's make plans to meet up, girls! π #NewYork #HiddenGems #GrandCentralStation π
