The Edge of the World: White Cliffs Live Up to the Hype
After stalking Eastbourne’s weather forecast for days, the travel gods blessed us—July 8th delivered sunshine so bright, the cliffs glowed like postcards! 🚆 Getting There London → Eastbourne by train, then planned to Uber… but after a 10-minute wait, the app said “20 more minutes”. Pivoted to Bus 12X (to East Dean), then walked 30 mins through idyllic countryside paths (sheep-approved!) to Birling Gap. Note: Our route didn’t face the “Instagram-famous cliff angle”—but the raw beauty still stunned. 🍽️ Food Stops 1️⃣ Xin Chao (near station): Vietnamese spring rolls (meh, served cold) Pho + fried chicken (solid!). 2️⃣ Beachy Head Café: Post-hike reward: fish & chips, tiramisu, hot cocoa with cliff views. 🏔️ The Cliffs Themselves Yes, the wind howls, the UV scorches, and your legs will protest—but nothing diminishes the jaw-dropping scale of these chalk giants. Photos don’t do justice. #UKTravel #WhiteCliffs #HikingAdventures
