The Matterhorn of Canada β A Snowy, Floral Paradise in BCβs Mountains
π Mount Assiniboine, often called the "Matterhorn of Canada," is a breathtaking peak nestled in the Canadian Rockies, straddling the border of British Columbia and Alberta. πΈ I was fortunate enough to arrive just before the wildfire smoke set in, capturing the stunning views of snowy mountains, lakes, and vibrant wildflowers. This note is all about the mesmerizing contrast of wildflowers against snow-capped peaks. Hiking Routes πΆββοΈ Assiniboine Pass (Entry Route): Starting at Mount Shark Parking Lot in Alberta, this trail stretches about 27 km and serves as one of the main gateways into the park. Along the way, hikers are treated to a wealth of wildlife and awe-inspiring mountain scenery. ποΈ πΆββοΈ Wonder Pass (Exit Route): A scenic yet challenging trail, it spans approximately 28 km, passing through the beautiful Wonder Lake and Marvel Lake. Itβs an ideal path for photography lovers π· due to the stunning landscapes. Viewpoints π The Nublet: This is the best spot to admire Mount Assiniboine, and where most of my photos were taken. The views here are simply breathtaking! My Camping Spot ποΈ Lake Magog Campground: The most popular camping site in the Mount Assiniboine area, offering basic amenities like restrooms and storage boxes. From here, campers can marvel at the majestic views of Mount Assiniboine and its surrounding peaks. I stayed here for 5 days, using it as a base to explore various hiking routes around the area. #EpicHiking #BucketListTrek #TravelNotes #SummerSnaps #SlowOutdoors #OutdoorImageWeek #WildOutdoorAdventurer #VancouverExplorations #HikingVancouver #NewOutdoorTransitions
