The Most Satisfying Michelin One-Star Experience Recently 🌟
🌟 The Kitchin I’ve been craving The Kitchin for so long, and finally got to try it! This Michelin one-star restaurant in Edinburgh is quite popular, so booking in advance is a must! Last time I visited, I couldn’t get a reservation, but this time, on a business trip, I got lucky and had the chance to dine here. 🫶 It was a delightful experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Prestige Surprise Tasting Menu (Spring Edition)—yes, I was in Edinburgh during a windy and rainy spring. The main ingredients, aside from razor clams, are typical fine dining fare like wagyu beef, flounder, and lobster. However, each dish has its unique touches, incorporating Scottish seafood and herb elements. The menu primarily focuses on seafood, which is very Scottish and incredibly fresh. 🤩 As a seafood lover, I was particularly impressed by a few dishes: ✔️▫️ The razor clams appetizer, paired with blood oranges, fava beans, and caviar, was both delicious and refreshing. ✔️▫️ The main course of roasted lobster was perfectly seasoned, bringing out the flavors reminiscent of grilled crayfish. ✔️▫️ The flounder was firm and well-cooked. The standout elements were the wild garlic, morel mushrooms stuffed with shrimp, and two small pieces of handmade pasta. The handmade pasta, with its textured surface, absorbed the flavorful sauce, creating a chewy yet tender texture. The Scottish shrimp paste was amazing! However, the mushroom sauce, being quite rich, felt a bit overpowering to me and would be better suited for spreading on bread. ✔️▫️ The wagyu beef was average. By the time I got to this course, I was already extremely full and couldn’t fully appreciate it (my fault...). There were two desserts. The first was a palate cleanser, featuring herbs from sea cliffs, with a refreshing tang that cut through the richness. The second dessert was a game-changer! An incredibly light soufflé paired with Macallan 18-year-old whisky, which enhanced the soufflé’s aroma. The base was roasted apple, not banana, which added a delightful fragrance without overpowering the dish. I loved it! 💘 The petit fours were malt chocolate, which were so delicious that I forgot to take a photo. They were small, with a chocolate exterior, malt mousse inside, and a small cookie base. I really wanted to ask the chef, Tom, if he sells these. 😝 By the way, the bread was also amazing, with beautiful air holes and a crispy crust. 👌 The wine pairing was thoughtfully curated by the sommelier, featuring natural orange wine, Powell&Son white (which I really enjoyed), Lebanese Musar white (average), and Napa’s Cain Concept red, which was very smooth. The experience was capped off with a whisky. Overall, I was very satisfied.👌 Book in advance, please! This place is a must-visit in Edinburgh, Scotland! #MichelinRestaurant #MichelinOneStar #RomanticLifeRecorder #LondonLife #EdinburghFood
