The Oldest Shrine in Japan is Right Here (2)🌟

⛩️ Ujigami Shrine & Uji Shrine 🌟 Ujigami Shrine is the oldest shrine in Japan. As you pass through the torii gate, you first arrive at the hall of worship. On either side, there are two sand mounds, representing yin and yang. It's said that these are the places where the gods descend, bringing good fortune and warding off evil. 🌿 The main hall, nestled against the mountain at the back of the shrine, is a National Treasure of Japan, built in 1060. It's the oldest shrine architecture in Japan. 🌇 Ujigami Shrine is also home to one of Uji's seven famous springs, "Kirihara no Mizu." You can wash your hands and feel its spiritual energy. This is the only remaining natural spring in Uji. 🌊 Heading downhill from Ujigami Shrine, you'll find Uji Shrine, which features many rabbit motifs. 🐰 PS: When planning your itinerary, it's recommended to visit Byodoin first. Then, cross the Uji River via the bridge, pass through the red torii gate, and follow the signs to Uji Shrine. After visiting Uji Shrine, head uphill to Ujigami Shrine. #Kyoto 🌸🌟
