The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel | Upper East Side, New York (1)🌟
Summer hotel prices in Manhattan are outrageous—whether you go or not, you end up spending a fortune. It’s better to splurge on a good one! Midtown is too noisy and expensive, so this time I decided to experience the Upper East Side. My top pick, The Carlyle, was too pricey, and I didn’t like the bathroom renovations at The Mark. 🍃🌸 I finally chose The Surrey, which had just been renovated and taken over by Corinthia. These three hotels are actually right next to each other, with equally convenient locations, but The Surrey is the smallest of the three. 🏨 🌿🌟 The first impression wasn’t great. The narrow facade, scaffolding next to it, and the tiny lobby with barely enough space for one group of guests to sit—all these made the initial experience a bit underwhelming. The shared entrance for the restaurant, hotel, and apartments added to the cramped feeling in the already small lobby. 🚪 🍃🌸 The second-floor SPA is run by Sisley, but it felt pretty average. The gym is small, but the equipment is decent, considering it’s newly renovated. 🏋️♀️ Once I got to the room, things looked up. The decor isn’t groundbreaking, but the attention to detail is evident. The double-door bathroom doesn’t have a bathtub, but the leather vanity adds a touch of elegance. 🌿🌟 The room, with its white, gold, and natural wood colors, feels elevated thanks to the ribboned wallpaper, leather accents, and artwork on the walls. 🎀 #NewYork #LuxuryHotel #UpperEastSide 🌟
