The Tasting Menu Trap from Lysée(1)
After not being fully satisfied with the dessert at Crown Shy, I headed to Lysée with my friend. 🍃🌸 We ordered the tasting menu, which included the signature Corn and Lysée, Apple Yuja Tart, and Kouign Amann. Still not satisfied after finishing, we ordered Herbed Calamansi Juice and Seasonal Ice Cream (Pear Sorbet). 🍃🌸 Time-saving conclusion: Just order the signature Corn and Lysée. Here are the individual reviews: Corn: Not sweet at all. I initially thought it just looked like corn, but the corn-flavored mousse on the surface is quite strong, and the nut filling has a nice texture. 🍃🌸 It would be even better if the filling was also corn-based. As someone who prefers refreshing flavors, I found it a bit too rich by the end, but that's really nitpicking. Lysée: The brown rice mousse is a delightful surprise. It feels lighter than the Corn due to the caramelized pecans in the filling, which makes it sweeter. I really enjoy the taste of the brown rice mousse and could eat it all day, but with the filling, it does get a bit too rich by the end. 🍃🌸 Apple Yuja Tart: After the two signature dishes, the sweet and sour fruit tart effectively cuts through the richness. However, upon reflection, I'd say the chef did a good job of making it fulfill its purpose, but it didn't leave a particularly memorable impression. #NewYork 🌟
