The Ultimate Guide to Avoiding Pitfalls at the King of Pies
When traveling to Belgium🇧🇪, I heard about the legendary King of Pies restaurant located right in the city center, so I quickly made a reservation to give it a try! After dining there, I realized I hadn't done enough research and ended up making some mistakes. I'm sharing this to help others avoid the same pitfalls! 😢 📍 Karen Torosyan | Bozar Restaurant ☎️ Reservations I highly recommend booking in advance. The restaurant was fully booked when we visited, and walk-ins were not accommodated. If calling is inconvenient, you can also make a reservation through their official website. 📞 📝 If You Want to Try the Famous Three-Layer Pie... Note! Many people visit this restaurant primarily to try the chef's most famous three-layer pie. This dish must be pre-ordered to be available. It is part of the THE CLASSICS set menu, which is a two-person sharing option because one pie is cut in half for each person. If you want to enjoy this signature pie, remember to inform the restaurant in advance that you would like THE CLASSICS . Don't make the same mistake I did and miss out!😭 ⏰ Dining Duration We were seated at 7 PM and didn't leave until 10:30 PM. If you're in a hurry, be aware that this meal will take a long time... ⏳ 🍽️ Menu The menu offers three-, four-, five-, and seven-course options. The four-course option is the pre-booked THE CLASSICS menu. For the others, you can choose on the day. We opted for the five-course meal and were super! stuffed! In addition to the five courses... we also had three appetizers, three types of bread, and two small desserts. I suggest that those with smaller appetites consider the three-course option. 🍽️ ◽️ Appetizers ◽️ Bread ◽️ Main Courses ◽️ Desserts 💸 Additional Costs ▫️ Water: I knew that water comes at a cost in Europe, but seeing a water charge of €8 per person was a bit of a shock. Might as well order a beer, haha! ▫️ Wine: The wine list features bottle prices, but you can ask the waiter for a glass. I remember the red and white wine was about €25 per glass. ▫️ Cheese Platter: Before dessert, the waiter asked if we wanted some cheese while we waited. I initially thought it was complimentary, but it turned out to be €30 per platter. I seriously don't think it's worth it. The cheese was just average, with no presentation at all. Definitely skip it! 💰 Cost Including some wine and the cheese platter, the total cost per person was around €250. 💸 💬 Thoughts Overall, the food was quite delicious, though the appetizers and desserts outshined the main courses. The pacing of the dishes was a bit unusual, sometimes fast and sometimes very slow. There were moments when we waited a long time! After the meal, they generously gifted us a small box of chocolates, which was a nice touch. 🍫 #food #FoodWithoutBorders #RestaurantRecommendation #Belgium #Brussels #Michelin #TwoStars #Pie
