There’s Nothing More Niche Than This Museum in London

💕The Fan Museum, located within the Greenwich World Heritage Site in London, has been open to the public since 1991. It’s the world’s first museum dedicated to the art and history of fans, housing a collection of over 4000 fan exhibits, ranging from the 10th century to modern times. The two carefully restored Grade II listed early Georgian townhouses are also a perfect part of the collection’s display. 🌟 The ground floor features a permanent exhibition with insights into the fan-making process, material selection, and more. There’s also a Venetian “flag fan” from around 1590, which was an exotic decorative accessory at the time. Many paintings, like Titian’s “Portrait of a Woman in White,” depict ladies holding flag fans. 🎭 The first floor is for special exhibitions, which change three times a year. The current exhibition theme is about theater, showcasing various style fans used by performers. There’s a super cute mini fan that you can wear on your finger! (How playful!) Some fans are decorated with musical notes, signatures, which was a fashionable trend. Overall, the exquisite collection makes the whole room feel romantic with a lace scent! 🕰️ Time: Tuesday to Saturday (11:00-16:30) 🎫 Admission: 5£ #LondonLife #MustVisitMuseums #NicheExhibitions #MuseumsCanBeFun #ExploringMuseums #LondonDaily #WeekendPlans #Fans #LondonHiddenGems #Decorative
