There's a Feeling Called Porto
❣️Porto, the second-largest city in Portugal located in the north, is a popular travel destination. In addition to tourists, Porto is also known for being on one of the pilgrimage routes, the Portuguese Way, where I encountered many pilgrims (or more precisely, people who want to contemplate life). 🧩 Port Wine The famous Port wine, named after being exported from Porto, where much of the wine produced in the Douro Valley is shipped from, is a sweet red wine with a rich flavor, often used as a dessert wine after meals. 🥰 The popularity of Port wine, especially in Britain, is not only due to its good quality and the low taxes on exports thanks to the Methuen Treaty between Britain and Portugal, but also due to Britain's boycott of French wine during the wars with France at the time. 👍 There are many wineries along the banks of the Douro River, and many traditional wine ships are moored there. Those interested can visit. 🧩 Luís I Bridge During the 19th century when Napoleon's army invaded Portugal, Porto was once in panic, and a large crowd trying to flee the approaching French army collapsed the Barcas Bridge across the Douro River. 🥰 Eventually, the French were driven out by the British-Portuguese coalition led by the famous Duke of Wellington, and this battle became an important page in the history of Porto. #Porto #France #MyTravelDiary #RecommendedCheckIn #Guide
