I ordered a whole table of dishes at this Malaysian snack spot in New York—and I was pleasantly surprised to find amazing oyster omelet! As a Taiwanese girl, I was over the moon 🥳 🌟 Kaya Toast ($7.5) Kaya jam is made by mixing pandan and coconut—and I’d never tried it before, but now I’m obsessed! The pandan and coconut flavors are both rich and complement each other perfectly. This sweet toast is so delicious! Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚 🌟 Oyster Omelet ($15) A Taiwanese girl’s favorite! It’s super similar to Taiwanese oyster omelet—only the sauce is different. In Taiwan, we dip it in sweet sauce, but here they use shrimp paste! Honestly, I think this version might be even better 😝 Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚 🌟 Nasi Lemak ($8.5) It’s their signature dish, but I didn’t really get the hype… It’s just regular rice mixed with salty anchovy sauce—I couldn’t taste the coconut milk at all. Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🥢 🌟 Hainanese Chicken ($15) The sauce is perfectly seasoned, but the chicken thigh meat wasn’t as tender as I hoped. The rice comes with three little balls of chicken soup rice, which are pretty fragrant! Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚 🌟 Sambal Kangkong ($12) So spicy! I could only take a few bites before giving up 😂 But look at all those crispy shallots—it’s still super aromatic. Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚🥢 🥤 Penang White Coffee ($5.5) Delicious—must-order! It has a unique flavor I can’t quite describe… Just trust me and order it! Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚 🥤 Malaysian Milk Tea ($5.75) Yum! It’s a bit like Hong Kong-style milk tea, but with a lighter tea flavor. Teh Tarik is sweetened/Teh-C Kosong is unsweetened. Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚🍚 🍰 Kaya Butterfly Pea Glutinous Rice ($3.75) It’s shaped like a little blue dumpling—so cute! Anything with kaya jam is good, and this is no exception. Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚🍚 🍰 Purple Sweet Potato Dumplings They’re coated in shredded coconut, with palm sugar inside. There’s not much purple sweet potato flavor, and the sugar is half runny, half solid—but it’s still pretty unique.
