Third Visit to Eleven Madison Park (1)๐
๐Last night, I paid my third visit to the New York Michelin three-star restaurant, Eleven Madison Park. Ever since I tried their all-vegetarian menu in 2021, I had sort of blacklisted this place! ๐ธ But on October 14, 2025, EMP returned to its roots and reintroduced a meat-inclusive menu. That alone was reason enough to come back and play the fool once more! ๐ญ On the menu, the first course was compressed bread served with onion-infused butter and roasted onion soup. The bread was delightfully soft, and at just the right temperature, it allowed the butter to melt slowly without being too hot. ๐ However, it was extremely salty, especially the brothโit was as if several pounds of salt had been added. The second course was a leek salad, which felt like a joke. Slightly pickled leek bulbs were dressed with vinegar and sprinkled with a bit of cilantro. ๐The leeks were crisp and tangy, making for a refreshing start. There was also a bowl with a large vegetable dumpling topped with a deeply pickled, dark-colored cabbage leaf. The appetizer was decent, with its salty and sour flavors. The third course was scallopsโfinally, a meat dish! ๐ข A slice of yellow beet on top, a scallop in the middle, and a slice of grapefruit at the bottom created a sweet and sour combination that overshadowed the scallops' natural seafood flavor. Apart from the texture, I could tell I was eating scallops, but the pickled vegetables' sourness and the fruit's sweetness dominated the dish, relegating the scallops to a supporting role. ๐ I felt that if something other than scallop sashimi had been used, perhaps another mild-flavored white meat, the dish would have tasted almost the same. Thus, the scallops served as an accompaniment in this dish. ๐ฆ #NewYork ๐๐
