This San Jose Sushi Spot is a MUST-TRY! Gather Your Friends and Go!

Craving sushi again? This time I went back to Kakuna – but tried their San Jose location! Friends told me it’s more spacious and has an awesome drink menu 🍹, so I grabbed two buddies and headed over last weekend! Even though it’s American-style sushi, Kakuna serves the most generous portions I’ve seen in the Bay Area! The rolls are stuffed with fresh sashimi inside, topped with even more fish 🐟, and wrapped with just a thin layer of rice. And the best part? Rolls average around $15! Seriously, I wanna ask the owner – are you even making any profit?! 😂 · 📌 Must-Try Dishes: 🍱 Omakase Box – A beautiful 9-grid sashimi box! The selection changes – this time I even got a fresh oyster! 🦪 Squeeze some lemon, slurp it down… pure freshness! My friends were shook by how THICK the cuts were – each piece feels like a whole meal 😍 No weak spots here! I even made a mini tempura bowl with the roe – add a dash of soy sauce, perfection! 🦞 Boujee Roll – The priciest roll at $19.99 (because… lobster!). Topped with seared salmon 🍣 and fried lobster pieces. Each bite was a delicious surprise – so hearty and flavorful! 🏈 49ers Roll – Our server’s favorite! It’s a tempura shrimp roll topped with fresh sashimi. The combo of crispy and fresh is UNBEATABLE! ❤️ Gaijin Roll – Not sure why they call this the “lover’s roll” 😂 but it’s loaded with fish inside AND outside! Top: salmon | Inside: tuna. Why choose when you can have both? ⚫️ Black Mamba – Eel roll with a cool name! Tender eel, crispy center – unique and tasty! 🥒 Veggie Options: My vegetarian friends ordered Zesty and Herbivore – same fillings (avocado + cucumber), different sauces (spicy vs. soy). Fresh and light! Also tried the veggie tempura – freshly fried, so good! 🧋 Drinks: A bit on the sweeter side – we had mango passionfruit and taro milk tea. Recommend less sugar! · 👏🏼 The servers are all super polite and energetic young folks. Great vibe! Plenty of parking 🚗. Perfect for groups – you can try more rolls! Prices are honestly a breath of fresh air in the Bay.
